Jewel (race name Julena) - The Retired Life
She came from Lincoln Park and was a great racer until she broke her ankle. Thankfully for us her
owner had her ankle fixed and let her be adopted out. Apparently some problems with pronouncing her
name caused her to be referred to as Jewel and it stuck. She is a jewel, a gem, a beautiful girl. She
absolutely loves everyone and everything! Kittens, other dogs, my parrots,
people, you name it, she loves it...

Tommy, one of my Greyhounds is a certified Therapy Dog at Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights. Once a week
we visit the staff and patients to lift their spirits. Tommy has quite a "harem" of nurses and staff that smother
him with love every time we visit. He makes lots of patients smile and brightens the day for the staff...

Derek the Greyhound
Hello to you my non-hairy friends, I would like to introduce myself as Derek the Greyhound or as you
might have known me during my racing days as Mr Grumpy. I retired from racing back in 2008 and
temporarily resided at a retired racing greyhound re-homing centre in Lincolnshire, England. It was
from there that I would go on to adopt my new human parents Alpha and Roadrunner...

Warning of Vetergesic
A few years ago a 10 year old greyhound bitch we had became increasingly unwell. Nothing specific,
just lethargic, quiet, decreased appetite, and eventually not interested in drinking either.
We took her to the vet one afternoon - she was very dehydrated, so she stayed there for rehydration
via an intravenous drip....

We say goodbye to Prince Valiant
His racing name was Prince Valiant, but to our family he was simply known as Prince. Whenever he went outside
into the backyard with our two Australian Shepherds, he would show them, and us, the speed that won him ten races
during his career as a racing greyhound. For the next 9 years, Prince became a part of our family. His soulful
eyes and happy demeanour could always help you forget the troubles and toils of the day...

Betfair Trainers Championship
I always like these nights and think anyone who has never been ought to experience it at least once.
Tango, for an unraced pup and on his first official outing and what an outing, unfortunately walked
out the boxes but the eye catching pace he showed down the back straight was amazing,
finishing like a bullet to take 2nd place...

Lofty and friends retirement
This is a picture of my retired Greyhound Lofty and his retired Greyhound friend Sally. Since adopting
Lofty he has been full of fun though he is very laid back!
Both Lofty and Sally are friends and Lofty is very well known in the village getting treats at the chemist,
newsagents, pet-shop & from his "fans" who all love to clap* him (*Scottish expression for petting and cuddles).
Lofty is also very vocal and will greet everyone who comes to the door with such a tale!...
